My Name is Yair Berko, I am a licensed clinical social worker graduate of Hebrew University, MSW. Born in the States I made aliyah with my family as a young adult. After spending a number of years studying Torah in Yeshiva and serving in a combat unit in the army I proceeded to study a Bachelors and Masters degree in clinical Social work and cognitive behavioral psychotherapy. I'm licensed and accredited as a social worker and specialist CBT therapist by both the Israeli and European Associations of Cognitive behavioral therapy. After working for five years as a therapist and assistant director at Ohr Lenefesh agency, I was appointed by the health ministry as Director of a big family counseling center for families of people with mental illness (run by Ezer Metzion). I continue at this position presently. At the same time I worked with the CBT Institute of Israel and have developed a growing private practice. I am currently accepting new clients in Jerusalem at my practice, CBT Therapy Jerusalem. My therapy is grounded in the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy .CBT is a goal-oriented and evidenced based therapy that has been highly recommended and researched as the most beneficial therapy for many disorders. CBT understands and addresses the negative thought and behavior patterns that interfere with our functioning and well-being. This approach will give you tools and insight as in how to change those patterns with healthier, more positive ways of thinking and being. I bring qualities of empathy and expertise, important ingredients towards a helpful and positive therapy experience.
